Sobre o evento

Blackpoint Wildlife Drive is nestled into the heart of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge between Titusville and Canaveral National Seashore or Playalinda Beach.  The refuge is home to many of North America's migrating birds for the winter.  At sunset, they group together for the night in the many sheltered alcoves available along the drive. It's quite a sight to come upon an entire flock of geese, or dappled ducks or even mesmerizing rosette spoonbills.  As a child long ago I remember seeing a huge flock of pink flamingos here. There's no guarantee what we'll see.

We'll meet at Lea's 4:00 to carpool and caravan the hour it takes to get to Blackpoint Drive near Titusville. There are no restrooms at the refuge so before we cross the Max Brewer Causeway, we'll stop at the park to stretch our legs and use the facilities. It's $10/car or yearly pass per car.  The Blackpoint Wildlife Drive loop is a slow, windey 7.7 miles long and offers places to pull over and park, some smallish hikes to bird blinds, an observation tower and a few longer hikes appropriate for the daytime.

A relaxed Saturday evening. . .   We'll commune with birds, gators, quiet and each other along the drive then head to El Leoncito for an optional dinner--great Mexican food (says Lea who got spoiled by the locals when she lived in New Mexico) I mean it-GREAT Mexican food, and good prices. After dinner there's a short boardwalk across from the restaurant that runs a short ways along the river if we should want to stretch our legs before the drive home.)

For years I've been wanting to get back out to the refuge in winter to see the migrating birds.  This is my way of sharing a beautiful local spot with chi-ful friends.  Not a class, just a get together. But if we should be inspired by the birds to spontaneously share some qigong, then so be it ;)

Please RSVP with your phone number so we can keep in touch through text as the event takes shape. thanks!
